Local jurisdictions may also require special licenses and taxes just to operate a business. “Going public” through a process known as an initial public offering means that part of the enterprise shall be owned by members of the public. This requires the group as a definite entity, to disclose information to the public, and adhering to a tighter set of laws and procedures. Most public entities are companies that have sold shares, but increasingly there are also public LLC’s that sell models , and other extra unique entities as nicely, such as, for example, real estate funding trusts in the US, and unit trusts within the UK. Private profit-making companies are completely different from authorities-owned bodies.
